Philippe Mottaz

Philippe Mottaz is a Swiss journalist and media entrepreneur. He is the founder of The Geneva Observer, an online news platform dedicated to the coverage of International Geneva, launched in 2019. He sits on the Board of the Swiss Chapter of Reporters Sans Frontières.
Prior to The Geneva Observer, he was the editorial producer of the Forum at the International Human Rights Film festival in Geneva.
From 2007 to 2013, he was the Director of the Geneva-based World Radio Switzerland. Under his leadership, WRS won Best Radio of the Year in Switzerland in 2012 and 2013 and 5 Edward R. Murrow radio awards in the US.
He is a former Head of News and Current Affairs at the French network of the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation and a former Washington Bureau Chief and White House Correspondent for the network.
His investigative reporting on nuclear non-proliferation and money laundering has been quoted in books and academic research.
His company, Anyscreen, won “Best News for Mobile” at the Cannes Mipcom Festival in 2005 and “Best Sports News” in 2006 at the Mobile News Festival. In 2011, Anyscreen won three awards for a documentary about a Swiss winemaker.
He is the co-author with Stéphane Bussard of ‘Trump: De la démagogie en Amérique’ published in 2016 by Slatkine in Paris, tipped by French daily Le Monde as “one of the best books about the 2016 presidential election.”
