Marc Engelhardt

Marc Engelhardt has been a freelance foreign correspondent since 2004, working for German public radio and TV, German news agency (epd) and a variety of German language newspapers. He has reported from more than 30 African countries while he was based in Nairobi (Kenya) until 2010.
He moved to Geneva in 2011, reporting on the United Nations and Switzerland since. He still travels to Africa frequently and has written a variety of books about the continent, on terrorism, migration and the United Nations. His books have been translated into Chinese, Arabic and other languages. Marc is a member of weltreporter.net, a worldwide network of German language freelance correspondents that he presided for five years.
Being born in Cologne (then West-Germany) in 1971, he has studied Geography, Biology, Law and Philosophy. After a trainee-ship with North German Radio and TV (NDR), he worked with German flagship TV news programme „Tagesschau“ before he left for Africa.
