Gabriela Sotomayor

Gabriela Sotomayor, Mexican journalist, accredited to the United Nations headquarters at Geneva, Switzerland, is currently a contributor to the newspaper Reforma. She is a correspondent for Deutsche Welle en Español, served as a correspondent for Notimex Mexican News Agency for eight years and is one of the founders and anchors of Tres Puntos Noticias, a debate program on UN issues related to Latin America.
Gabriela was President of the Association of Correspondents to the United Nations (ACANU) for two years, being the first Mexican to obtain this distinction. She studied Communication with a speciality in Journalism at the Universidad Iberoamericana in her native Mexico City.
She is the author of the poetry book” Llamado Urgente: Poemas de un Ama de Casa”, published by Malvario in Buenos Aires, Argentina (2008). It was first released in Geneva at Salon du Livre et de la Presse on May 2013.
“Llamado Urgente” (Urgent Call) it’s a simple, feminist and deeply human poetry book that awakens a deep awareness on so many women who are exploited in their own home and who, due to social pressures, are forced to carry out housework. It is an intimate poetry book, with genuine dialogue between women, and a cry for help for those women who have lost their voice.
