Adreas Zumach
Adreas Zumach is a German journalist. He studied economics and journalism at the University of Cologne from 1975 to 1979.
From 1979 to 1981 he worked as an editor for the newspaper Die Neue in Berlin (West).
From 1981 to 1987 he worked as a referee in the Action Reconciliation Service for Peace. In this capacity, he was responsible for the organization of the 1981 Bonn peace demonstrations and acted as spokesman for the coordination committee of the nationwide peace movement. In the meantime he was a member of the Security Policy Commission at the party executive of the SPD.
Since 1988 he is Switzerland and UN correspondent for the Tageszeitung (taz) based at the European headquarters of the United Nations in Geneva. He also works as a freelance correspondent for other German and English-language print and broadcast media.
Zumach focuses on issues of international law, human rights policy, security policy, arms control and international organizations.

In 1998 he was awarded by the united nations secretary General Kofi Anan on behalf of the united nations association of Corespondents in New York UNCA, in its third annual award for reporting on the United nations for his report for Deutschlandradio program "Reform oder Kollaps" broadcasted on 24 October 1997.
In 2009 he was awarded the Göttingen Peace Prize; Zumach is now the jury chairman of the award.
